Brasfield & Gorrie Earns National Award

March 2013

Brasfield & Gorrie’s work on the Rex Healthcare of Holly Springs project in Holly Springs, North Carolina, has earned the company an Eagle award in the Healthcare – Less than $10 Million category of ABC’s National Excellence in Construction Awards. Brasfield & Gorrie representatives received the award Feb. 20 during the 23rd annual Excellence in Construction Awards celebration at the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

“ABC is proud to recognize Brasfield & Gorrie for its outstanding work on the Rex Healthcare of Holly Springs project,” said Michael D. Bellaman, ABC president and CEO. “This project embodies a commitment to innovation, safety and superior craftsmanship through creativity and skill.”

The Excellence in Construction Awards program is the industry’s leading competition, developed to honor innovative and high-quality merit shop construction projects. The award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer. The winning projects, selected from entries submitted from across the nation, were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost.

Despite a one-month schedule delay caused by a direct tornado hit, Brasfield & Gorrie completed this two-story, 34,238 sq ft health care facility on time thanks to careful planning.

“Brasfield & Gorrie is excited to have partnered with Duke Realty on this successful, national award-winning project. This medical office building will serve the healthcare needs of the Holly Springs community for many years to come, and we are excited to have been part of the project,” said Scott Duckworth, Regional Vice President at Brasfield & Gorrie.

A panel of industry experts served as the competition’s judges. This year’s panel included representatives from the Design-Build Institute of America, Engineering News-Record, the American Institute of Architects, and the National Association of Women in Construction, as well as representatives from higher education, among others.

The economy and construction have been on quite a ride for the past few years. Complete SMPS’ Role Delineation Survey

SMPS has launched one of the most important initiatives in its 40-year history: A comprehensive survey to examine and define the professions of marketing and business development in the design and building industry—and we need your help.

Please participate in the Role Delineation Survey and invite your colleagues, principals, and project managers to do the same. SMPS needs to capture the scope of marketing and business development responsibilities firm-wide. Membership in the Society is NOT required to take the survey.

Available through May 30, the survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. If you cannot finish it in one session, you can come back to it later and pick up where you left off. However, please submit your completed survey by May 30. Note: At the end of the survey, you will find a box for additional comments where we encourage you to include any knowledge areas or tasks not covered in the survey.

Survey takers will be asked to create an account before beginning, and those completing the survey, will be entered into a drawing to win one of six great prizes from SMPS.

For more information about the survey, visit http://www.smps.org/Recent-Updates/Participate-in-SMPS-s-Role-Delineation-Survey-Through-May-30/.
