Call for Board Nominations

Are you ready to gain leadership skills and be part of a fun group working together for our chapter? SMPS Research Triangle is looking for chapter members to join our 2025-2026 board! 

Volunteering on the SMPS Research Triangle Board is great way to gain leadership skills, guide programming for our members, be part of an amazing group of local marketing leaders, make some friends, and have fun along the way. Join us on the SMPS Research Triangle board and let’s work together! Board Nominations are due by April 14, 2025. We have key board positions open on the SMPS RT Board for the 2025-2026 program year. The Nominations and Elections Committee is seeking members who are in good standing and meet the position requirements to fill the following open board positions for the Research Triangle Chapter’s 2025-2026 year. Please submit the following information for each nomination, which can be for others or yourself. Serving on the SMPS Research Triangle Board of Directors is a great opportunity to develop leadership skills, give back to SMPS, and make new connections and friends!

  • Statement of Eligibility: Include nominee’s credentials and accolades within SMPS and their career
  • Views and Special Interests: You may also include a statement outlining the nominee's views on current Chapter issues and special areas of interest

    Co-Director of Events (2) To be eligible for this position, the nominee must be a regular member in good standing, or distinguished life member, and must have served on a Chapter committee for one year.                     

    • Preside over the planning and execution of all socials. Party planning experience and enthusiasm a plus!
    • Create and manage event set-up and close-out on the SMPS Research Triangle website platform including monthly programs, Coordinators’ Clubs, socials, site tours, and other special events. Tasks may include: adding event details to Chapter website, opening and closing online registration, and managing walk-in registrations.
    • Identify projects and coordinate location and tour guides for site tour
    • Coordinate with Education Committee on Program and Coordinators’ Club details
    • Coordinate with the Communications Committee on when meetings are live on the SMPS Research Triangle website platform and ready to be promoted
    • Preside over the coordination and execution of logistics related to regular monthly programs and Coordinators’ Club events. Tasks may include: venue coordination, AV needs, catering coordination, photography, etc.
    • Preside over regularly scheduled Events Committee meetings
    • Attend monthly Board Meetings and regular SMPS Research Triangle Chapter events


    The Director of Events holds the position for a term of one year.

    Co-Director of Membership (2) To be eligible for this position, the nominee must be a regular member in good standing, or distinguished life member, and must have served on a Chapter committee for one year.  

    • Preside over Chapter recruiting and retention of members
    • Work to promote inclusivity within Chapter membership
    • Preside over the coordination of welcome table set-up at programs/events. Tasks may include: printing and assembling of nametags, manage attendee check-in, and set up banners and displays
    • Preside over the coordination and execution of the Members Connect program
    • Welcome new members and coordinate new member Chapter webinar and Buddy Program
    • Preside over the coordination and execution of New Member Spotlight/Members on the Move
    • Preside over coordination and execution of Milestone Awards
    • Preside over coordination and execution of Membership Drives
    • Preside over coordination and execution of new member meetups (usually prior to a program 2x year)
    • Preside over regularly scheduled Membership Committee meetings
    • Attend monthly Board Meetings and regular SMPS Research Triangle Chapter events


    The Director of Membership holds the position for a term of one year.

    Director of Communications (1) To be eligible for this position, the nominee must be a regular member in good standing, or distinguished life member, and must have served on a Chapter committee for one year.      

    • Preside over coordination and execution of all Chapter communications, including:
      • Social Media
      • Eblasts
      • Print Materials
      • Chapter Blog
    • Preside over coordination and execution of SMPS Research Triangle website tasks, including:
      • Revising Board of Director page and other website edits as needed
      • Job postings
    • Preside over regularly scheduled Communications Committee meetings
    • Attend monthly board meetings and regular SMPS Research Triangle Chapter events


    The Director of Communications holds the position for a term of one year.

    Director of Education (1) To be eligible for this position, the nominee must be a regular member in good standing, or distinguished life member, and must have served on a Chapter committee for one year.      

    • Identify topics and secure the speakers for monthly programs and Coordinators’ Clubs
    • Prepare program write up, speaker headshots, and designation of SMPS domains
    • Coordinate with Events Committee and speakers on presentation run-throughs
    • Register speakers on the SMPS Research Triangle website platform
    • Create and distribute program surveys on the SMPS Research Triangle website platform
    • Write thank you notes to speakers
    • Preside over coordination and execution of CPSM information
    • Preside over regularly scheduled Education Committee meetings
    • Attend monthly Board Meetings and regular SMPS Research Triangle Chapter events
    • Prepare and send in the annual Education Report to SMPS HQ


    The Director of Education holds the position for a term of one year.

    Director at Large (1) To be eligible for this position, the nominee must be a regular member in good standing or, distinguished life member, and must have served on a Chapter committee for one year.      

    • Responsible for leading sponsorship sales for the Chapter
    • Perform duties as may be assigned by the President or the Board of Directors
    • Serve on one committee as assigned at the beginning of the calendar year
    • Edit, proofread to-be-published items as requested by committees
    • Attend monthly Board meetings and regular SMPS Research Triangle Chapter events


    The Director at Large holds the position for a term of one year.

    President-Elect (1) To be eligible for this position, the nominee must be a regular member in good standing, or distinguished life member, and must have served on the SMPS Research Triangle Board of Directors for one year.               

      • Preside over Chapter, Board of Directors, and/or Executive Committee meetings in the absence of the President
      • Provide oversight to ensure Chapter actions and initiatives are in accordance with the strategic plan for growth
      • Responsible for obtaining Holiday Social door prizes
      • Attend monthly Board Meetings and regular SMPS Research Triangle Chapter events
      • Other duties as may be assigned by the President or Board of Directors


      The President-Elect holds office for a term of one year, with commitment to serve as President and Past President in the two years following.  

      Secretary (1) - To be eligible for this position, the nominee must be a regular member in good standing, or distinguished life member, and must have served on a Chapter committee for one year.                                               

      • Ensure that the meetings of membership, the Board of Directors, and/or Executive Committee are recorded in a timely fashion and maintained in the permanent record (mySMPS.org) of the Chapter
      • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the President or the Board of Directors
      • Attend monthly board meetings and regular SMPS Research Triangle Chapter events


      The Secretary holds office for a term of one year.
